Why do you think so many people commit suicide?

September 30, 2008

I just watched a movie where a mom commited suicide- what do you think is the main reason for suicide?

Mental illness. Depression and Manic Depression/BiPolar Disorder. I lived with depression for many years. It became severe in the winter of 2005-2006 and I did come close to suicide. Clinical depression and manic depression can be as painful (sometimes more painful) than any physical illness. And if you live with it day-in and day-out…

A person who feels he or she has lost everything important

Someone who has hit 'rock bottom'.

Someone who believes that their children/parents/spouse would be better off with someone else.

    Certain drugs and alcohol addiction

Like there's nothing in this world to live for anymore. Like their world is just toppling on top of them, something they can't bare. Pressure within their lives. That's why people commit suicide because of LIFE!!!!

So many people believe that no one will ever understand what they are going through and that they will feel this way for ever.

That is not true though. There are so many places people can go for help. Chances are you wont be feeling like this in a few days.

A boy I went to Primary school with killed himself because he broke up with his girlfriend of 8months. I mean do you think when he's 70 he would really think it way such a big deal? Worth ending his life for? Probably not.

I also think people are assamed of feeling the way they do. They don't want people to think they 'can't cope'. They are ashamed to get help or they don't know where they can get help from.

I know many people who have killed themselves over what seems to be completely trivial (well to me anyway, I don't live in their shoes).

Also stress is a big factor. Around exam time more people become stressed and commite suicide.

Money can be another reason. In Australia last year, on average 1 farmer was killing himself EVERY 4 DAYS!!! How crazy is that? Well it's because there wasn't enough rain and their stock was dying.

I personally don't believe there is enough help out there. Some people see it as their only option when it isn't!

Well I think people commit suicide because they don't see any other way out of a situation. They are missing something in their life, like hope, and they are feeling really lonely. I think some people have been hurt so bad, and they don't have anyone to turn too, or feel like they have no one to turn to, let it be because of shame, or fear, or someone threatening them. so the way out of it, is to end their life.

But, there is a way out of every situation, and out of every pain, and it won't hurt you in any way fashion shape, or form. And it is to turn your life over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I mean why should someone kill themselves over something when someone has already died for them. I God there is hope, there is love, and there is Joy!

Because life can be overwhelming at times.
Some people are very fragile emotionally.
That makes it harder for them to get through hard times.
They choose to end it all to avoid the pain.
    Which is very sad indeed.

Hopelessness. Seeing no hope for happiness. If you are having these thoughts you are obviously already depressed. You know how much depression sucks. You don't want to live your whole life in such a way. You don't see any way that your life can get better and you just want to end it now instead of suffering more.

Realisation- realising the Truth and feeling like they can't do anything to change it.
And that "truth" differs from person to person.
When I went through my suicidal thoughts- a long time ago & without any type of drug consumption except the evil alcohol- my "Truth" was that every single thing I had believed in with all my innocent heart was manufactured by the world leaders to supress all the hard-working people from rebelling. Luckily I was taught to fight to the bitter end, so I stepped away from the ledge, but I know many other people that are just taught to conform, and they're the ones that sooner or later lose control and take that final step.

I'd say that about half of the deaths that get called suicides are really either accidents or murders.

Accidents sometimes get called suicides because an insurance company doesn't want to pay off a policy. Calling an accidental death a suicide might give them an excuse to void their contractual obligation. If the insurance company's decision is contested in a court, you can bet that the insurance company will at least consider trying to sway the judge with some sort of improper inducement.

Murders sometimes get called suicides because the police suspect that the murderer is somebody who has a lot of power, and investigating the death too zealously might trigger unpleasant consequences to the investigator.

Sure, suicide happens. But I think that not every death ruled a suicide is really any such thing.

My honest belief is that people just give up. One of my best friends from high school committed suicide a year ago this past Christmas. He was going through a very nasty divorce and had 2 children that he loved very much. We talked on the phone several times a day up until it happened. He gave up. He stopped fighting for himself and for his children. It broke my heart.

I've always said that we are never given anything that we can't handle. My best friend once asked me (a different friend) "but what about those that commit suicide then?" and my response was "they gave up, they didn't believe they COULD handle it so they gave up. It seemed like the easier thing to do."

Too many people are discovering the truth about life and the world. Now that people have the time and resources to research and to look into things, they are discovering that all their hopes and dreams were actually rubbish and that goodness is an illusion perpetuated by either spiritual thinking, fear, or a hyper-active and childlike imagination. The unhappy people are actually the most mentally sane. They use their senses rather than their imaginations. Happiness is caused by delusions. The imaginative fantasy world of childhood is where humans need to be in order to stay alive and not turn against themselves.

This is also why it is so important to preserve our childrens' innocence and worldly ignorance for as long as possible. As we grow older, we die.

    P.S. I wish I wasn't so sane and right.
