Depression Can Be Dealt With

October 6, 2009

Depression is hell as it is been referred by many of the doctors and hypnosis - therapists. There is no single reason for depression. Some of the symptoms of depression are a person feeling sad all the time for no proper reason. Low energy level or just being lazy and not doing your tasks. Things that you enjoyed the most you start hating, withdrawal from family and friends. Constant anger, frustration, not able to concentrate on work, all are symptoms. Weight loss or gain significantly, changing sleeping patterns, less sleep, waking up early and thoughts of suicide or death are some of the symptoms observed.

People can get depressed even if they are been not able to get up with energy in the morning. Depression has many factors, which affect an individual. Medical problem, personal life problems, even genetics can be a cause for depression. You might think how can depression have a genetic cause, research shows that some people get the genes that are inherited from their parents suffering from depression and this can also affect them. Not everyone is affected by it; there can be a case that a person is suffering from depression even though no one from his family has ever undergone it. Events such as death of a loved one, family member, friend or even your pet can be a reason for depression when it goes beyond the normal grief.

Separation from your partner, parents getting divorced, partner betraying you, sometimes not getting satisfaction from your job or work can cause you to go in the state of depression. Family and social problems even trigger the cause of depression. For children seeing parents fight all the time, teens not getting what they want from their parents, negative thoughts in the mind also lead to depression, homelessness relationship problems, all can suffice as reasons. A person may also go into a state of depression if he is abused or scolded all the time. Abusing a person causes a chemical change, which differs the mood of a person. Medical conditions such as disability causes depression.

Depression directly affects the brain of a person. Depression is called as delicate chemistry of brain. Chemicals named neurotransmitters, which send messages, or signals to the brain change the mood of a person. If the flow of these signals is low then the person gets depressed or stressed. Stress also leads to depression. The cure for depression is to balance the neurotransmitters flow normally. Doctors attempt to resolve this by using a method of hypnosis. Hypnosis has been very effective then any other diagnosis. Experts have posted their thoughts about depression and its remedies on the Internet. If you feel that you are a prey of depression you can overcome depression yourself. The remedy is available on the Internet in the form of mp3 or video, which you can download and use to deal with depression. Overcoming depression yourself will help you get cured at a faster rate. Come out of depression and see the new sunshine by the help of hypnosis. Use your freewill in overcoming depression yourself.

    How to deal with depression?
First, how do you know if you’re depressed and not just having a bad period?

Second, if you are depressed how can you treat it without the use of medication?

A bad period causes depression. Too treat it simply get out and do things. go to the movies hang out with friends whatever. you’ve basically got to grab yourself by the collar and snatch yourself out of depression. hope this helps.

IMO…depression is a bad period. The question to me is will you control depression or will you need medication to control this "bad period" in your life.

Faith, a positive attitude, and taking the initiative to do something good…for yourself and others can be a great cure for depression.

Exercise, reading a book on positive mental attitudes, and sacrificing your own feelings to make someone else feel better (charity) can definitely help.

For example, this answer helps me.

Keep the faith, work hard, and good things will come.

One of the best ways to make yourself feel better is to eat healthy, lots of fruits and vegetables, and exercise regularly. Go out in the sun, getting vitamin D will really help you feel better.

Interestingly religious people are less likely to become depressed

Depression lasts for more then 2 weeks ,you can try to treat it without meds with diet and exercise ,exercise has been shown to provide the same relief as anti depressants ,I myself am trying this route at this time .I am however going to a psychiatrist and he has prescribed me some meds ,I know from the past that the first few weeks on the meds sucks (loss of appetite or in some cases increased appetite ,lack of sleep ,anxious feelings ) but these do go away with treatment …hang in there it will be okay my advice see a licensed psychiatrist and talk to him about what you are feeling it helps just to talk it ut and know you aren’t the only one that has felt this way

A hormonal imbalance can lead to depression. The next time you have a doctor’s appointment, tell him what you are experiencing. He may want to perform some tests on you. There are herbal remedies you can take. The best-informed people work in health and natural food and supplement stores. But, do not take anything without consulting a doctor.

In the meantime, I’ve always found that watching cartoons (my favorite is "Tom and Jerry") and coloring books can help ease depression. You are never too old to laugh and be a child. The best advice I ever received was, "Never lose your inner child."

    Good luck to you!

Hi there, I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety for a few years now, and I just want to say a couple things first off: You are not alone, there are answers and solutions to your problems, there is lots of help available for you, and you WILL get better, and come out of this.

The best way to know if you are actually, clinically depressed, is to talk to your doctor. He or she will probably refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist, who will in turn give you a legitimate written test to see if you’re depressed, as well as talk to you about it to find out more. This is the best thing to do to be sure. I could list you symptoms, but we tend to experience depression symptoms from time to time, and the human tendency is unfortunately to confirm self-diagnosis upon hearing symptoms.

In terms of treatment, again, seeing a doctor will be very good. Once you get hooked up with a psychiatrist, he or she will be able to walk you through this far better than anyone on Y!A could, or even yourself. If you don;’t click with the person you’re referred to, try another doctor - sometimes you need to try other Dr.’s until you find a good fit.

Apart from that, vitamin and mineral supplements can often help to elevate your mood, and clear that depressive fog up. So, you can take:

    1) Vitamin B - there are vitamin B supplements called ‘B complex" or "hi-potency B", which help give you a bit more energy, and assist in mood

    2) Vitamin D - this is clinically proven to help with depression and mood. - In turn, being outside in the natural sunlight for at least 30 minutes each day gives you a dose of natural vitamin D. The fresh air of outside can also help.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having a hard time - really I am. I know what it’s like. But see a doctor, and that way you can better understand whether or not you’re actually depressed, or if you’ve just hit a rough patch.

    Hang in there!

Oh! I almost forgot - Exercise! That REALLY helps. I know it may not be fun (I HATE it) but there’s no question that it makes me feel better after getting into a routine. If you get regular exercise, you should notice a better change in your mood in less than a week.

don’t do drugs, whoever suggested that is wrong
i listen to fun music, go exercise, and watch a fun movie with some friends. it is pms if it at the start of or right before a period in which case take some midol and then take a nice bubble bath with a fun book. If it is depression it will last much longer in which case talk to someone you trust and just go out and try to do fun or just active things that keep you busy so you will ahve less time to wallow and focus on how you feel and it actually will help you feel better
the lesss you think about it, the better
hope you feel better soon =)

If it doesn’t lift, esp for a very long time, you’ll know.
Start doing things you really have a love for and turn your thoughts to other things when you feel depressed.
    Prayer does work.
Depression says that something in you has given up (no hope) and you feel despair.
God has not given up on you.

Hi Ali! Depression can be confusing and scary, especially if you don’t know what you are depressed. People who suffer from clinical depression deal with depression on a daily basis, with no significant cause for their depression. Episodes of depression can be triggered by certain events, but it lasts for a long time and interferes with health and everyday functioning.

Have you had any major events or changes in your life recently? Sometimes a major loss or life change can cause symptoms of depression, but these symptoms are usually short-lived and part of the grieving process. Also, a sudden lack of activity or social interaction can cause symptoms of depression. If you feel like this may be the cause, start getting active and involved and see if that helps a little bit.

Either way, if your depression is interfering with your everyday life - i.e. appetite/weight changes, sleep changes, loss of interest in hobbies, etc. - I would recommend talking with a professional, or even your own physician. Depression doesn’t always need to be treated with medication. However if a doctor suggests medication, I would HIGHLY encourage you to seek counseling to go concurrently with your medication. Of course, it’s your choice, but I would recommend trying counseling first, and then considering medication if things aren’t working out.

Another note on therapy - if you find that you aren’t "clicking" with the first therapist you see, definitely try another. Many people drop out of therapy because the first therapist they see is not a good fit for them. Find someone with whom you feel comfortable.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

If it lasts for more than 2 weeks you need to talk to a dr immediatly. If you can afford it talk to a therioist or coincelor and they can help you sort out your feelings. If not talk to your doctor and explain what you are feeling. She or he can help you a lot. Also it helps if you let your close friends and family that you trust.

About meds.. You MAY be able to improve this with your eating habits or natural supplements. But some people just have this in their genes. I am on meds for depresion and anxiety and I tried everything. Supplements, I have even been eating a healthy organic and balanced diet scence I was a young child. Depression runs in my family so the only thing that could help was meds and it really helped me after the first 3 months on meds I started feeling so much better. It all depends on your genes and how your body works good. Luck and talk I your dr.

Well, if you are only experiencing these feelings of depression during your period, it is a bad period. But if these feelings are consistent, you may be experiencing depression.

If you are not wanting to use medicine, there are other more natural ways such as St. John’s Wort, valerian root, or other natural mood boosters. I would give those a go and see what they do for you.
